The beach at Albir on the Costa Blanca on New Year’s Day was the scene of a charity swim.The proceeds of the swim were for the Disabled People’s Centre and the Alfaz del Pi Civil Protection Centre.
The swim was organised by the Cocktail Ritz restaurant in Albir and everyone participating were asked to pay 5 euros.It all started at13.00 and the organisers were only too happy to permit anyone to join in even if it was five minutes before the start.The more the merrier was the attitude.
To get people in the right frame of mind there was a warm up session before the event with many activities to get the muscles working ,then each competitor was presented with a “goody bag” for entering at such a chilly time of the year.
It is thought that over 100 people took part and consequently both charities will benefit very well from the event.
