In 1996 a Gandia man died and left a piece of land to the Valencia bishopric to build a church on.This was stipulated in the will which was left by the deceased.However the bishopric sold the land for 1.6 million and a construction company built a block of flats on the land.

Understandably the man’s family took the bishopric to court and the court has said that the church must repay the family 2.2 million euros.Now here is a very moral dilemma as the church didn’t carry out the wishes of the will ,is the money now theirs or should it be returned to the family?

The bishop is having talks with the town council about finding another piece of land,similar to the original and with the money from the land sale and money left by the deceased they will build the church.Between 1983 and 1996 the deceased donated two plots and 600,000 euros to the church with the wish that they be used to build a church and other parochial buildings.
