The town hall in Elche has announced that it is not going to have a crackdown on illegal homes in the area.

There are many owners of illegal homes who have seen new infraction boards appearing infrontof certain homes.The writing on the boards is in Valenciano and they state that in line with town planning law in Valencia,”any urbanisticillegality will end with the demolition of the illegal building,if legalisation is not possible”.They añso state that there can be fines for illegal buildings which can be 200% of the value of the works.

Narurally people are worried about this but the town council planning officer has stated that there is no campaign to intensify checks on illegal property.He says that they already employ inspectors to travel around the countryside looking for infringements of the law and this is being carried out as it is normally carried out.Any fines would be administered according to the law.
