A tax fraud case in Elche has been the cause of another crime in which a father and son had become implicated.They were accused of mugging a businessman who was carrying almost a million euros.Three hundred thousand of this money was discovered in the carpentry factory of the father and his car was noted at the scene of the crime.However he has always protested his innocense.He has always said that he was in Argentina at the time of the crime taking place.

The son has now exonerated his father and taken the full prison sentense for the mugging.It appears that the businessman was under surveillance by the revenue for fiscal fraud and tax evasion and a tax officer took down the car registration number when the mugging took place.

This businessman and twelve others ,six of them Chinese,were arrested several months later during an operation code named “Dragon”.These people were accused of owing 30 million euros in taxes.Three others accused of laundering money have also pleaded guilty.
