Ancient Costa Blanca

Denia,on the Costa Blanca,has an Archaeological Museum which has just received a donation of archaeological remains found on shipwrecks from the Roman era in LÁlmadrava and LÁntinar bays.They have been donated by Ximo Mas from El Verger who collected them between the 70´s and 80´s while he was fishing.The museum is going to make an inventory as well as identifying just where they were found at sea.Most come from Libya and Algeria and were used to carry oil from North Africa between the first century BC and the first century AD.

From ancient pots to ancient trees .The Alicante Environment Department is carrying out an inventory of ancient trees in the region.Up to now they have noted 750.Local town halls have collaborated  with the inventory which has noted ancient specimens and also trees which are unique in some other way.They may have a special cultural value or some unique features.The inventory was released on the same day as “The Day of the Tree” on January 31st.
