Rubite is a village near Granada on the Costa Tropical.Last week there was a tragic accident in one of the homes in the village when a ceiling collapsed onto a British couple who were sitting watching television,killing them both.
The couple were visiting their friends ,also British,when the accident happened.The owner of the house was outside at the time of the roof collapse and his wife was in the kitchen.The husband was unhurt but the wife did sustain some broken bones.
Emergency services were called straight away and it took them 30 minutes to enable the bodies of the couple to be extricated from the rubble.They were killed straight away.
It is thought that the recent heavy rain in the area had caused a landslide and that this had caused the roof collapse.Municipal engineers will now investigate the cause of the collapse.the house was 35 years old.
