Javea and virtually all other towns in Spain are feeling the pinch when it comes to their coffers being very empty.A Javea councillor has admitted that when it comes to fining residents for their parking offences and speeding much more now than they ever have.In fact they are ordering police to do so.

Town councils have lost massive income because of the construction industry catastrophe and they have to get in money somehow.There are more police patrolling,more traffic wardens visible and more speed cameras.Most people are prepared to pay what is fair and reasonable but when you feel that they are out to get you then the old hackles do rise .
