Barcelona( Costa Brava) Marathon

The Barcelona( Costa Brava) marathon took place at the beginning of March and members of the Costa Blanca Samaritans took part in an effort to raise funds for the charity. They did a good job by completing the course and raising over 6000 euros.

Running a marathon is not something that anyone should take on lightly.it is very hard work just training for it and it is extremely difficult to complete the race within the 6 hours allocated for its completion. The crowds help to keep the runners on track and when the muscles begin to give up then the non-professional runners need the enthusiasm of the crowd.

It appears that this is a very well organised race in Barcelona. There are cameras and video cameras all around the route.Everyone thought that they would be running in snow but by a miraculous turn of events the snow turned to rain. Then the sun returned to the city.

The race begins outside the Palacio de Alfonso XIII,with all of the wonderful fountains in full flow and Monserrat Caballe in full song with her rendition of “Barcelona”.11,000 runners participated in the race this year and it would be interesting to discover just how much money was raised by this event this year.
