When things went wrong with fireworks at Denia´s Fallas last week a British woman was injured and four other elderly people were also treated at the hospital in Denia.It appears that a firework which should have been shooting vertically slipped over and shot out its sparks horizontally.The fire was then directed into the crowd.A british woman attempted to help others and in the process her trousers were set alight and the fabric melted against her skin.The woman´s leg was very badly burned,shards of glass also became embedded in her leg.It appears that the firework blew up a cashpoint machine.
The Falla Society has accepted responsibility for the accident and will pay all medical expenses.The woman is concerned about permanent scarring.There was no official document available,reporting the accident,at the town hall.Police had no official report either and the British couple were informed that they should write their own report.
They will now seek the advice of a lawyer to foloow up claims for compensation. Other people received minor burns and were treatedby the Red Cross.
