Because you are a pensioner it does not mean that you are old and pensioners do do exciting things such as sailing.Two German pensioners from Cartagena in Murcia decided to sail to Ibiza but they got into difficulties and had to abandon their boat in mid crossing.This didn´t happen because they were “pensioners”,it could happen to anyone.They transferred themselves to a rubber dinghy and luckily had a mobile phone.
They contacted friends in cartagena who then raised the alarmwith the emergency services.An air sea resue operation was mounted with the Guardia Civil,There were boats,helicopters and planes searching.However they were eventually spotted bya British yachtsman and rescued.
They were taken to port in Oliva where they received medical attention from the Red Cross.They were reported to be in good health and good spirits.
