The British Lib-Dem leader Nick Clegg has a Spanish wife.Those Spaniards who live in Olmedo ( Valladolid) have known him for many years.He met Miriam Gonzalez at a school in Brussels.She is a EU negotiator with the World Trade Organisation and commutes between Brussels and Geneva.He of course was once a Euro MP..They have three sons who all have Spanish names Antonio ,Alberto and Miguel.They spend most of their holidays in Spain it appears.
The fact that one of the contenders to the British parliament has a Spanish wife has given the British election a higher profile in Spain and Clegg has been featured in both El Pais and El Mundo.They find the fact that having a coalition government in the UK would be highly unususl,highly unusual.
Should Nick Clegg,by some incredible fluke,become Prime Minister of Britain then the first lady would be a Spaniard.This of course is highly unlikely.
