Benidorm and the Costa Blanca in general has been thanked by the British Federation of Tour Operators for their huge efforts in dealing with the huge number of tourists who were stranded during the Icelandic volcano eruptions.
A Hosbec spokesperson hads also spoken about the gratitude shown by the tour operators. It appears that the tour operators have received hundreds of “thank you” letters from grateful holidaymakers. It appears that the dedication of the staff at all levels was greatly appreciated. It just shows that they are able to rise to the occasion ,whatever the problem might be.
The downside is that during the volcanic crisis there were costs which have been estimated at 15 million euros and now the government is being asked to step up to the plate and help beleagured hotel owners. They require a strong international promotional campaign,a delay to the proposed IVA tax hike in July and to postpone Social Security payments for April and may so that hotels are able to maintain their cash flow.
