Each year along the coast of Spain there are tragic accidents with toddlers drowning in swimming pools.This week a 3 year old boy drowned,while on holiday,in a Calpe swimming pool.

You never think that your child is going to fall into the pool and drowm.However it only takes a very short period of time for these accidents to happen.

The family were on holiday in Los Almendros urbanisation in Calpe when the accident happened,By the time the parents realised what had happened it was too late to revive him.A SAMU ambulance arrived on the scene very quickly but it was too late.

In many countries,particularly Australia and New Zealand,all pools have to be enclosed by law.Children are not permitted access to a pool unless an adult is present.In Spain too many pools are next to the living accommodation and actually keeping children and water apart is almost impossible.In many respects it is amazing that many more children don´t drown by accident in private swimming pools.
