The Spanish woman climber Edurne Pasaban has become the first woman in the world to climb all 14 mountains over the height of 8000 metres.
Initially it was thought that the Korean climber Miss Oh had gained the award but the South korean Mountaineering federation has announced that it does not recognise Miss Oh´s climb of Kanchenjunga .There were too many doubts about the validity of her climb that the Federation had to rule that she had not completed all 14 climbs.She made the claim on April 27 this year.
Sr Pasaban made her climb of Shisha Pangma on May 17th and she is now the official world record holder for having climbed all 14 of the world´s highest mountains.
This lady hails from the basque country and regards this accolade as the icing on the cake.Pasaban and all of the mountaineering fraternity were aware of the issues surrounding Miss Oh and now the Korean Federation has confirmed the doubts which other people had had.
