The political party Nueva Javea is pinning its hopes of increased tourism,to the mast.They feel that to attract more visitors to the town they need to develop its “nautical”appeal and its links to the sea.
There most definitely needs to be a move away from construction,which has fallen off the map.More tourists need to be attracted to Javea.
There are ambitious plans to develop two new marinas and reorganise the port.There was a controversial scheme recently to totally enlarge the port,this started a massive move against such a project.
They need to lose at least 60% of their dependency on the building industry.Nueva Javea has plans to develop Fontana Canal which is already used for mooring smaller boats.The Arenal bridge prevents larger boats using it.Morwe commercial sites could be developed around it ,a bit like Puerta Banus in Andalucia.
The saladar area is another that they are considering for development.It was earmarked for housing but that has been scrapped and it is now a protected area.They also think that Javea port could be made to be a much more attractive area for visitors.
Nueva Javea is very honest about the fact that Javea already has too many houses and a new direction must be taken for the economy of the town.
