The Guardia Civil in Alicante have stated that Alicante on the Costa Blanca is Spain´s largest producer of cannabis and has described it as a “cannabis jungle”.
In the last two years Spain has become the largest cannabis growing area in the EU.There are plantations in Andalucia , Murcia , Cataluña , Aragon and mainly in the Valencia region , particularly Alicante.
They are growing the drug in virtually every town in Alicante province.The plants are grown in flats , houses , gardens ,large plots of land that are hidden from view plus huge warehouses.The climate in the region suits its growth.
It appears that the Dutch are responsible for this increase and they actually send people to Spain to teach locals how to grow and process it and then it goes to Holland where smoking it is quite legal.
