The new president of the Valencia region , Alberto Fabra , envisages “great reforms ” for 2012.They are going to cut public sector spending by 1,000 million euros.They will also find employment for 15,000 unemployed young people, he declared in his New Year´s address.

He says that debts to the suppliers in the Valencia region will also be paid during 2012.He is promising a much slimmed down administration with no extra spending taking place.

His first step will be a regional act of parliament passing urgent measures to reorganise and rationalise the public sector.

This will be followed by a regional “summit ” meeting with town hall representitives from across the region.It is hoped that this will stop all duplication of services and will speed up administrative formalities.

They want people to start new businesses and they want more employment.They are saying that they will cut red tape and a new business could be functioning within 48 hours.

They will also allocate 100 million to set up a Youth Employment Plan and hopefully get 15,000 youngsters in to work.

His whole speech spoke of more austerity and asking people to make sacrifices for the good of the community.He called the Valencia region one of the cheapest in Spain.
