A recent Spanish anti drugs campaign uncovered thousands of cannabis plants in the Valencia region.There was a time when Moroccan hashish was what Spanish users used .Now there are home grown supplies all over Spain.

The usual grower of cannabis would grow a few plants in the garden , on a terrace or in a greenhouse in the garden.This still happens but it is now being grown on an industrial  scale in large warehouses or plantations which are well off the beaten track.The favourite areas are Andalucia , Murcia , Cataluña , Aragon and particularly Valencia and Alicante.

The seeds most likely to be grown is the Ak-47 and they do not come cheap at 800 euros for 6 seeds.They germinate well and show results in just a few weeks.One plant can provide half a kilo of cannabis.A kilo can generate a profit of over 1000 euros.So 800 euros for over an 8000 euro return is quite a good investment for those who are willing to take the risk.

Growing techniques can be very high tech these days and many big growers use hydroponics where the climate for growth is highly controlled.One grower was discovered to have spent 9000 euros on lighting alone for 1800 plants.There is big money in growing these plants.

Cultivation of these seeds is illegal.It is a crime against public health and it does not matter if you are growing one plant or 1800 plants.There is someone about to go on trial for growing just 4 plants.
