Pharmacists throughout the Valencia region are to be paid the next payment from the regional government , it has been announced.The amount is 60 million euros.This money ought to have been paid to them during the first half of August 2011.This 60 million ought to be paid by the Monday January 10 and then there is a further 120 million euros that should be paid by the end of January to cover the bill for September 2011.The President of the Pharmaceutical College in Alicante has stated that he is pleased that the regional government has kept to its word.

Normally pharmacists are paid 3 months in arrears , which is a strange practice in itself but the back payments have shot up to six months without payment and last month the pharmacists showed their displeasure by striking for 3 days.

Some teachers in Alicante province were in the same boat and had not received their December pay and bonus.However the 5000 teachers have now been paid.

The unions such as CCOO , FSIE and STEPV have constantly been in touch with the authorities about these issues and it seems to have had a positive outcome.
