Spanish News | The Rich Spaniards

The Spanish economic crisis has hit so many people .Many have lost their jobs and others are living hand to mouth.Almost everyone is being affected in some way.

However the rich Spanish are becoming richer it appears.They have increased their wealth by around 6% during the last year.

The wealthiest man in Spain is Amancio Ortega of Inditex, the clothing giant whose famous brand Zara is know the world over.He is shown on the still rich list alongside his first wife Rosalia de Mera.

Also on the list was Santander´s Emilio Botin and the Entrecanales family ( Acciona Construction and Services Group ) , the Del Pino family ( Ferrovial ) , Alicia Koplowitz ( FCC) as well as ACS and Manuel Jove.

Stocks and shares all over may have gone down but the shares of Inditex went up by 13% making Ortega another 2.7 billion.

Ferrovial shares went up by 25% making the Del Pino family another 634 million euros.There were those who were not quite so fortunate and Manuel Jove who earned 4 billion from the sale of the now beleaguered Fadesa group lost 12% of his wealth because of his 5% share in in BBVA bank which was purchased after the sale.

Between them all Spain´s super rich are worth around 38 billion euros.This is about the same as the Spanish government spending cuts aimed at reducing the national budget deficit from 8 to the EU stipulated 4.4% .Not one of them has offered to pay higher taxes as have some of the super rich in France and America.
