It is a year since the Spanish government banned smoking in all enclosed public spaces.It is much more pleasant to sit in a bar or a cafe now because there is no tobacco smoke.

However smokers have no need to give up their habit for nicotine.Nicotine is not the “baddy ” here.It is the tobacco.Tobacco has a long list of very nasty substances when it is burned and the smoke from the burning is inhaled.It is those chemicals which cause the problems with the lungs , circulation and cancer.It has been calculated that there are 4000 different chemicals created when tobacco is burned.

All of us may have heard of many of them and others we have never come across.Many of us will remember formaldehyde from our biology lessons at school.It is the liquid which all of those dead animals were preserved in.It is an embalming fluid.Then there is ammonia , which is a household cleaner , acetone ( a paint stripper)  , aluminium ,ethanol ,hydrochloric acid , carbon monoxide—-the list goes on and on.

Smoking tobacco causes ill health over a long period of time it can cause anything from raised heart beat and high blood pressure to cancer in just about any body organ , not just the lungs.

There is an alternative for all smokers and that is to use a high quality electronic cigarette.The emphasis is on the high quality.There are a lot of poor quality ones out there.Choose one with synthetic nicotine and not one where the nicotine is derived from tobacco.The latter will just carry with it the many toxins from the tobacco.
