A study of all town halls in the Marina Alta has named the civil servants and other staff working in the Teulada -Moraira town halls on the Costa Blanca as the hardest working.It appears that they work an extra 45 minutes a week.

The staff work a 35 hr and 45 minutes every week of the year , even throughout the summer.The mayor has praised his staff and stated that this attitude to their work was achieved through negotiation with individual staff and was in place before the government extended the working hours to 35.5 hours a week.

The summer months were the most busy and so working shorter hours in the summer made no sense at all.Most town halls in the Marina Alta work 35 hour weeks and so with the new government initiative unions will need to do a lot of negotiating.

All town halls are seeking ways of making savings and in Benitaxell it is the council staff who have taken over the lifeguard , cleaning and maintenance of the public pool.
