The Marina Baja hospital in Villajoyosa on the Costa Blanca is to offer patients who are suffering with serious kidney problems , the chance to carry out their dialysis in their own homes.This has just been announced by the regional health authority.
Patients will be provided with all of the necessary equipment and they will be taught how to use it so that they will no longer have to make their regular visits to the hospital.
It has been calculated that at least 80% of these patients would be able to follow the procedures at home.There have been numerous studies carried out which shows that home dialysis does work.It is especially successful with young people as long as they do not have diabetes.The equipment will be free and can be set up in the patient´s bedroom .In the hospital there is a special room set up where patients are taught how to use the equipment.
