The Green Party in Torrevieja on the Costa Blanca , has announced that the Torrevieja council has sidelined a project to allow residents to make solar energy in their homes and sell what they don´t need , to the national grid.
The idea was promoted by the Green Party in 2010 and was backed by everyone. However it has never been acted upon. They had proposed a modification to the Town Plan which would have allowed residents and also urbanisation communities to use their roof space , terraces and patios for solar panels.Previously only industrial premises had been able to sell the excess back to the national grid .Householders could only heat their own water.
The Green Party still feel that this is a possibility if the Torrevieja council would just make a few administrative adjustments.Enabling people to make their own electricity would free them from the massive centralisation of this utility in Spain.
