The Spanish government might be seen as having its arm put up its back by the US government , by many internet users.The US wants Spain to implement much more stringent anti-piracy laws to stop the downloading of music and films.
In protest Wikipedia ,the online and free encyclopaedia ,is going to shut down for a day.The English language site´s founder Jimmy Wales says that the legislation could threaten the whole future of the internet and will permit the US government to close down any website that they think is operating illegally.
Most of the internet industry is against the US government stance.Wikipedia , Twitter , Facebook , Ebay to name a few.
Wikipedia has 25 million users around the world every day and so the effect of closing it down will be interesting to follow.It seems that it is only the music , film and police services which are in favour.
