A Valencia court has ordered that a Spanish woman return two of her three children to their father in England even though she fled the marriage because of her husband´s threats and maltreatment.The father has been denounced for physical and sexual abuse.
The father is of Nigerian origin and married the Spanish woman.He now has Spanish nationality and the couple moved to the UK in 2008.The wife then fled from him back to Spain taking her children with her.The court is saying that she took the children from the UK in an illegal manner.She claims that she left to protect her children and herself.
Last year she denounced her husband for abuse , although she claims that it was always present in her marriage.They married in 2003 and all of the children are young.She says that if the children return to the UK he will abuse them or kill them.
Surely a court should listen to a mother who is trying to protect her children from an abusive and possibly very dangerous man.At least they should investigate the matter further and not just rely on the law books.
