Javea | Animals Blessed

January 29 will see a medieval market and food stands in Javea on the Costa Blanca. It will mark the two week long celebrations of Saint Anton , the patron saint of animals.

These traditional mid-January markets will also have horse and cart displays , dressage         , fairground rides and activities for children.

Last weekend people brought their pets to the Plaza de la Constitucion. There were hundreds of residents carrying or leading their animals to be blessed.

The performance was repeated on Tuesday at the Nuestra Señora del Loreto Parish Church , also known as the Fishermen´s Chapel and also at the APASA Animal Sanctuary.

Holy bread and wine were handed out to the very patient owners of all of the animals in each service.
