The Red Cross personell often pick up the pieces when things go wrong in our lives . The Javea branch has issued some valuable pieces of advice to those using the beaches in the town .
There have already been a number of drowning deaths on the Costa Blanca , so these warnings need to be heeded .
They want everyone to heed the flag warnings and for people not to swim when the red flags are flying .
They want the young and the elderly not to swim alone , it is dangerous . They also give advice about over exposure to the sun at whatever age , it is not good for us .
Hopefully if people heed this advice then the Red Cross will have les work to do over the summer .

The San Antoni lighthouse in Javea has not gone out in 150 years but it did this August .
It appears that there was a power surge which burned out some of the wiring .
For two hours the light was not so good and then it gave up all together . The systems for protecting against such surges were not functioning , hence the blackout .
As well as providing a warning light , it gives out a navigating beacon and so for that particular night boats were without this provision .
The system was up and running again within 24 hours and everything was back to normal the following night .
Javea town hall is processing requests from 800 young low paid workers for help with paying their rent .
The scheme is only available for Spanish nationals and is a move by the national government to help young people to become more independent .
If young people have their own living space then their is a hope that they will be more self reliant .
The financial help is up to the value of 200 euros .
There are negotiations going on to build a new Ikea just 15 km south of Valencia , which would make it so much easier for the people of Javea to access this very popular outlet .
At the moment the nearest one is in Murcia , which is quite a long drive for a day’s shopping .
It is proposed to build this one at Alfafar which is on the south side of Valencia .
Such a shop would create 2000 new jobs for the community and as the commercial area has such big outlets as Carrefor and PC City , it would be an amazing coup to acquire Ikea too.
From the 29th August through to the 9th Sepember there is a very important fiesta taking place in Javea . It is Patronales Mare de Deu de Loreto .
The origins of the Virgen de Loreto is of Andalucian origin . Sailors from andalucia called in at Javea fleeing the Moors . They stayed and married local women .They honored their virgin by building her a shrine from the wood of their boats .
In the mid twentieth century fishermen got caught in a very fierce storm and prayed to the Virgin , promising to build her a church if they were saved . They were saved and the fishermen took the Virgen de Loreto as theirs .
The church was not built until 1962 , when they had acquired enough money .
The roof of the church has the design of the bottom of a fishing boat.
Nueva Javea is an independent political party and the ruling coalition party in Javea seems to be at sixes and sevens .
The Bloc-Centristes party have approached Nueva Javea to join the council but they have rejected the approach .
They will not allow the party to be used as a weapon and suggested that Bloc -Centristes and PSPV all focus on doing what is best for the town .
Nueva Javea is going to continue in opposition and work for Javea . They will not displace the PSPV party .
The disagreements concerning the road works in the pueblo continues to be a bone of contention .

There has been an increase in the population of wild boar in the Pla and Les Barranqueres zones of Javea .
The president of the farmers association has said that members are becoming very concerned about the amount of damage that they are doing to irrigation systems and crops .
Instead of returning to the mountains in the mornings , they hide in the ravines and start feeding as soon as the sun goes down .
Local experts think that there could be up to 200 wild pigs in the area .

Businesses in Javea old town have had to endure two years of disruption to their businesses , some having to close down and others with profits much reduced .
They had thought that it was all over and that life could return to some form of normality , but no.
Work has begun near the parish church and pneumatic drills are ruining pavement cafe business . The work involves the connection of a property to the mains sewers and is going to take some weeks .
Once again there will be a heavy loss of profits .

Javea Conservatives are holding a dinner in October and their guest speaker will be a Tory MEP.
He will give talks to the assembled guests on a variety of topics of international interest .
This particular MEP has a wide experience of Baltic politics and has also been a spokesman for culture , education and constitutional affairs for the conservatives .
On September 10 the Javea Conservatives will be holding a bring and buy sale .
There have been a greater number of visitors to the beaches in Javea this year than previously .
There could be many reasons for this but the work done by the town hall could be paying off .
There is now greater accessibility for the disabled with a facility enabling them to swim .
The cleaning of the beaches has been given greater priority as has safety . The police are now giving extra backup to the lifeguards in terms of vigilance for the safety of swimmers .
All in all a successful year for visitors .
