Last Monday the Spanish National Court sentenced the ETA terrorist who set off a bomb in a Denia hotel to 17 years in prison .

The bomb was detonated in January 2005 .

The man was found guilty of causing the explosion in Hotel Port Denia , resulting in five people being injured and a great deal of damage to the hotel .

The Environmental Agency in the Balearic Islands have released data about the quantities of litter collected from island beaches this year , as compared with last year , 2007.

The pleasing news is that the quantity has gone down conciderably . On the island of Ibiza , by 90% while overall it had gone down by 78%.

The bad news is that the amount of litter collected on Mallorca has gone up by 6.7 % compared with July 2007.

Most of the waste is collected from the coastal waters and not from the beaches themselves .

Menorca has also shown a drop of 6% from last year .
