Fiesta In Javea

Friday 26 September 2008 @ 2:34 pm

The Javea Port fiestas are always a sight to behold and this year was no exception with wonderful floats , prepared with a great deal of care by those taking part .

This year the floats often had a mild political theme , often poking gentle fun at political issues of the time .

The floats are voted upon by members of the council , the fiesta committee and also a group of young people . They chose one which poked inoffensive fun at the road works which have been taking place in the town and how it is affecting businesses . A well deserved winner .

Breaking News - $Million Law Suit To Be Filed Against Option One Mortgage Amidst Exortion Allegations

Wednesday 18 June 2008 @ 6:04 pm

A multi-million dollar law suit is about to be filed against Option One Mortgage and its owner WL Ross by a homeowner in South Carolina amidst allegations of exortion by the company.

The homeowner, Ms dinah Yarbrough explained that the trouble started when Option One lost two consecutive payments she made in October and Novemberlast year. When she called the company in the New Year to make her payment and find out if the company had found her lost payments she was told that her house had been placed in Foreclosure and she would have to pay a total of $24,000 including $12000 in legal fees to get the property removed from Foreclosure.

Ms Yarbrough eventually agreed to pay the money and in February sent First Option a cashiers cheque for the $24,000. The company promised that should she prove the payments were made as she had said that the fees would be returned.

Ms Yarbrough then travelled to Spain to undergo major surgery. On her return to her home last week to close a sale on the property she discovered that the sale had fallen through and that her property was still in foreclosure with a sale date set for June 21st.

On contacting the lawyers in Columbia acting for Option One she discovered that they had not been notified by Option One of her payment of $24000 and the foreclosure was proceeding from papers filed in December. They asked her to obtain proof of the payment as they had recieved no correspondece from Option One.

On contacting Option One, they refused to send notification of the payment to the laywers and demanded $15,000 from Ms Yarbrough or her house would be sold at auction in two days time.

Ms yarbrough said that that was the final straw. ” They tried to exort money from me with threats” she said. ” The Laywers in Columbia told me later they had no paperwork to act on and when I refused to pay the $15000 they came back to me to see if they could get $6000 instead, again saying my house would be sold if I did not pay. Well I paid $24,000 under duress in February and look where it got me. This company has put me through 9 months of hell and I have had enough”.

Ms Yarbrough said that she was waiting on legal advice but would be lodging a multi-million dollar law suit against the company and would also be contacting Federal Authorities about filing allegation of exortion against the company.

Option One is no newcomer to complaints see- complaints against Option One

The company had received a litany of complaints about their administration and lending practices.

This law suit comes just before h&R Block finalise the sale of Option One. Whether this suit will put the sale in jeopardy is not known, but Ms Yarbrough is happy to receive correspondence from anyone else who may have been mistreated by Option One.

“Its time to take a stand against these crooks”, ” if I can find enough people who have been scr**ed as well, maybe we can launch a $100 Million class action against them and put them out of business once and for all.
